The current in a stream moves at a speed of 6mph. A boat travels 25mi upstream and 25i downstream in a total? - boat stream gator tour

The current in a stream moving with a speed of 6 mph 25mi One boat races in front of 25i and downstream, in a total time of 20 hours. What is the speed of the boat in calm water? in km / h, and returned to the nearest tenth. Thank you!

Let v speed boat in calm water.
Balance through the entire time
25 / (V 6) + 25 / (V-6) = 20
v = 7.4 mph

For the answer below me,
Your answer is incorrect. Here is the job I was doing.
Mutliply both sides by (x 6) (V-6) and simplifying,
25 (2v) = 20 (v ^ 2-6 ^ 2)
5v = 2 (v ^ 2-36)
2v ^ 2-5V-72 = 0
v = [5 + sqrt (5 ^ 2 +4 * 2 * 72)] / (2 * 2) = 7.38 mph

x = speed of the boat
20 = 25 / (x - 6) + 25 / (x + 6)
4 = 5 / (x - 6) + 5 / (x + 6)
4 to 5 / (x + 6) = 5 / (x - 6)
[4 * (x + 6) - 5] / (x + 6) = 5 / (x - 6)
[4 * (x + 6) - 5] * (x - 6) = 5 * (x + 6)
(4x + 19) * (x - 6) = 5 + 30
4x ^ 2 - 24x + 19x - 114 = 5 + 30
4x ^ 2 - 10x - 144 = 0
2x ^ 2 - 5x - 72 = 0
[-b + sqrt (b ^ 2 - 4ac)] / (2a)
[5 + sqrt (25 + 8 * 72)] / 4 = 7.6 mph
